Website visits and security
Our hosting provider may record technical data such as the IP address, request date and time, requested page, browser, and request result. We also use Wordfence to protect the website against malicious access. These activities rely on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the website.
Wordfence is configured to log security-related traffic only. Live Traffic data stored on the website is limited to 2,000 rows and 30 days. Its audit log is in preview mode and does not send events to Wordfence Central. Hosting logs are kept only for as long as needed to operate and secure the service and meet the provider’s legal obligations.
Contact and support
When you email us, we process your email address, your name if provided, the message content, and any technical information you voluntarily attach. We use this data to answer your request, provide the support included with your subscription, and retain necessary evidence of our exchanges.
- A pre-purchase enquiry is kept for up to three years after the last contact.
- Correspondence related to a purchase, license, or support request may be kept for up to five years after the last exchange, unless a legal obligation or dispute requires a different period.
Never send us a password, card detail, or license key in a public forum. Crop screenshots to remove unnecessary order data and personal information.
Pro purchases, payments, and licenses
Stripe provides hosted checkout, processes payments, presents configured taxes, issues receipts and invoices, and provides the billing portal. We receive Stripe identifiers, email address, name, billing address, and any tax identifier supplied in order to deliver Pro and handle administration. We neither receive nor store complete card details.
Launch sales are restricted to business purchases. To evidence the terms applicable to an order, we retain the Checkout Session reference, business name and address, country, confirmation that the purchase is made exclusively for business purposes, tax identifier type and value, the version and language of the accepted terms, and the acceptance date. This evidence is linked to the subscription and separated between Stripe test and live environments.
For European Union VAT identifiers, we retain dated structured results supplied by Stripe or obtained from the official VIES API: validity, error code, consultation identifier and, only where returned, name and address. We do not retain the raw HTTP response. These checks support tax treatment, preparation of the French European Services Declaration and anomaly handling; a single VIES outage never triggers an automated decision.
Payment, invoice, subscription, credit note and refund references, integration and presentment amounts and currencies, and tax amounts are retained to perform the contract, keep accounts and comply with legal obligations. Accounting records are kept for ten years. Contract evidence and licence records are kept for the contract term and then five years, unless an obligation or dispute requires otherwise; technical activation data that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised through the same review.
Our license service also stores the plan, entitlement status and end date, installation identifier, domain, environment type, and last validation date. This data is used only to enforce quotas, distribute updates, and provide support. The key is not stored in plain text. This processing is necessary to perform the contract and meet applicable obligations. Stripe describes its own retention periods and transfer safeguards in its privacy policy.
Recipients and service providers
Data is available only to Claire Marchyllie and, depending on the service used, the following necessary providers:
- o2switch, website and email hosting in France;
- Defiant / Wordfence, website security;
- Stripe, Pro checkout, payment, billing documents, and customer portal.
Stripe and some security services may process data outside the European Economic Area. These transfers are governed by the mechanisms described in the relevant providers’ privacy policies.
Cookies and analytics
We measure use of the public website to improve its content and navigation. The website counts page views, broad referring-site categories, page language, screen-size and loading-time ranges, selected link clicks, 30 seconds of reading and 75% scrolling. It keeps daily totals separately for each category, without visitor identifiers, browsing histories, full URLs or form contents. No analytics cookie, browser storage, fingerprint or session recording is used. Purchases and customer records are not linked to these statistics.
Local counters are kept for 25 months. Only completed daily totals, rounded to the nearest ten and excluding counts below five, are sent from our server to PostHog EU to display trends. PostHog receives no visitor IP address or browser details. Its retention policy applies to these aggregate statistics. This limited audience measurement serves our legitimate interest in improving the website. WordPress and Wordfence may use essential session, administration or security cookies.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected. You can also exclude this browser; only an essential preference cookie, valid for one year, will remember that choice.
Your rights
Depending on your situation, you may request access to, rectification or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also withdraw consent at any time when processing relies on it.
Email contact@decimalquantities.com and describe your request. We may ask for proof only when needed to verify your identity. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL).
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our services, purposes, or retention periods change. The date at the top identifies the version currently in force.
